So far the best car with an EcoBoost engine and it's a position that it is unlikely to change...

Ford estimated this:

"In-house testing also showed the 1.0-litre EcoBoost-powered Formula Ford is capable of extremely frugal fuel economy, delivering 2.4 l/100 km (118 mpg) at 56 km/h (35 mph), and 5 l/100 km (57 mpg) at 120 km/h (75 mph)."

They are in Imperial gallons so add 20% to the numbers to get US version.

Now the only question, is it road legal?

In UK it is. But it seems that pretty much everything can be legal in UK. I guess that could be street legal in some other countries too. Too bad that they aren't planning to produce more of those.

I remember that someone built a Moto GP style racing bike in UK and it was "daytime" street legal without any other light besides a brake light.

My country (Finland) is pretty strict for vehicle modifications but we are still quite easy country compared to some other European countries.

Yes it is. I think there is some EU law that pretty much excludes most rules big manufacturers have to obey for small companies, simply because they don't have the capacities to fulfill them. That's how Radical managed to build a hand full of road cars.

Legal in the UK if made in very small numbers. Not so legal most other places.

In Europe we have "European small series type approval" (besides the normal type approval). I think it is still limited to yearly production of 1000 cars. It gives some lightening for the type approval process but it still requires plenty. I'm not familiar what are the main differences currently but they used to be related to destructive test methods and production quality control.

It's a lot easier process that the full European type approval but it is still quite expensive to get all things approved. That type approval would still valid in other European countries.

But I think that you can still get national type approvals in some (European) countries. In UK the production limit for those would 75 per year for passenger vehicles. In Finland it was 50 but because our tax system doesn't support it very well there hasn't been a single car that would have been type approved with this process.
